By: Kani Amea

Oahu, also known as The Gathering Place, is the island were the natural and the urban life coexist in a perfect harmony. Take a cocktail cruise around the South Shore, eat at a five star restaurant or snorkel and swim with dolphins at the famous Hanauma Bay, all in the same island.

One of the main reasons people feel attracted by Oahu, is the diversity of beaches that form part of the island. You can choose from 139 beaches, to do the activity you prefer: snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding or simply lye by the sun and get tanned. Banzai Pipeline and Sunset Beach are famous for being an excellent surf destination.

Waikiki is the most famous destination in Hawaii. At this one-and-a-half mile stretch beach you can find what you want: from surfing lessons to five-stars cuisine and glamorous shopping centers and art museums.

Other interesting attraction at Oahu is to visit Honolulu’s Chinatown, a 15-block large neighborhood, home of many Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos and people from all over Asia. This place is a cultural and economic centre.

One of the most photographed spots on The Island of Oahu is The Diamond Head. To climb this extinct volcano takes 90 minutes, but once you reach the top, you will have the most amazing 360 degree view.

Pearl Harbor is probably the most famous attraction in Oahu. Unfortunately that’s because on December 7, 1941, Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and more than 2.000 soldiers died. The USS Arizona Memorial is a tribute to those militaries.

Visit The Island of Oahu if you are looking for variety. You can never get bored at this island: get tanned at the pristine Oahu beaches, visit the different Oahu attractions, go shopping or play golf at some of the most popular golf courts in the world.
