Oahu – The Perfect Travel Destination

Oahu Island found in Hawaii is the 11th largest city in the U.S. Its home to numerous beaches and historical sites. Oahu is nicknamed “The Gathering Place,” because of the different cultures and number of visitors that flock this place. Oahu is also the most populated island in Hawaii and is diversity personified thus offering visitors and residents the best of both urban and rural experience.

Geography and Climate

With a land area of 607.7 square miles and 112 miles of coastline, Oahu is the 3rd largest island in Hawaii and is home to 75% of the states population. Because of its location, Oahu ranks among some of the most remote locations in the world. Population.

It has a mild temperature between 68 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit all year with winter months being a bit cooler with frequent precipitation. The temperatures of the coastal waters are warmer averaging 76 to78 degrees. Monumental mountain ranges of Koolau and Waianae are found here.


With 139 beaches on Oahu providing unique flavors, it’s no doubt that people flock Oahu because of the numerous beaches. There are a number of activities for everyone. You will get to do surfing, windsurfing, boogie boarding or snorkeling.

The renowned North Shore of Oahu hosts various beaches that are flocked by people from all corners of the world. During winter, the sunset beach and the Banzai Pipeline are big surf destinations.

Diamond Head

Diamond Head is the most famous landmark visible from anywhere at Waikiki Beach. This extinct volcanic peak of 231 meters receives many hikers each day. You can follow the path leading up to the top on your own. Once there, you get incredible views of the surrounding areas.

Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is the site of the Japanese bombing in 1941 killing many American soldiers. It is the most visited most visited spot on Oahu. You get to pay tribute to the 1,100 American fighting men killed by visiting the museum and the USS Arizona Memorial. You also visit the USS Missouri, the site where the Japanese surrender documents were signed.
